Adoption Process

Thanks for your interest in Shining Star Doodles puppies!  Choosing a new family member is a big decision and we are here to help!  Raising a puppy can be difficult and time-consuming.  We do our best at educating and providing resources to help with the transition and rearing of the puppy.  We ask that all prospective adopters do their own research as well to make sure that they are ready for the commitment.  If you have decided that you are ready to take the plunge in adopting one of our pups, the first step is to fill out the application found HERE.  To process your application and reserve your spot on our waiting list, we require a non-refundable application fee of $200 which will be deducted from the purchase of your puppy.

The application helps us to know more about you so that we can help guide you and place the right pup in the right situation.  We provide lifetime support for all of our pups so this also helps us be able to provide a better level of support to you.  If you are not ready to fill out the application or have questions before doing so, feel free to contact us via text or phone at 816-853-7723 or email shiningstardoodles@gmail.com.  We can also be reached via facebook or instagram.   Once you have filled out the application and are ready to pay the fee, please email us for further instructions.  Shining Star Doodles reserves the right to refuse the sale of any dog to anyone at any time before the placement of the dog.

WAITLIST AND PICKING OF PUPPY:

Once your application and fee has been processed and accepted, you will be placed on our waitlist.  Shining Star Doodles always reserves the right of first pick of the litter, everyone else is placed on the list in order of application received. Once a litter is born, we will send an announcement within 24 hours to everyone on the waitlist.  We send weekly (and usually more often) updates, photos, videos and weights of puppies.  At 7 weeks old, our dog trainer asseses the temperaments of each puppy based on the Volhard testing guide. At that time we let everyone on the waitlist choose the puppy that best fits their lifestyle based on puppy temperament and personality.

We welcome and encourage puppy buyers to visit the puppies before picking at 7 weeks.  If this is not possible, we are more than willing to facetime or send videos of puppies to help give you a better sense of them.

PRICE AND PAYMENT SCHEDULE:

All of our goldendoodles regardless of gender, color or size are the same price of $2200.

(Pups are sold on a strict spay/neuter agreement.  Breeding rights can be purchased for an additional fee to approved breeders.  Please contact me if this is something you are interested in.)

If your application fee was received and processed before pregnancy confirmation, we will notify you as soon as we know that pregnancy is definite.  At time of confirmation we will email or mail (depending on your preference) our Puppy Purchase Agreement, Payment Schedule and Health Guarantee.  If pregnancy is already confirmed or puppies born, at the time of your application, we will send you those documents right away.

Payment schedule:

  • $200 non-refundable application fee.  This fee is due at time of application to reserve a pup.
  • $1000 along with signed purchase agreement due when pups are 3 weeks old
  • $1000 due at 6 weeks old.  Sales tax and delivery fees (If applicable) will also need to be paid at this time.

If you miss a payment, this could result in you being removed from the reservation list.  We understand that life doesn’t always go as planned, but unfortunately, we are not able to hold your puppy waitlist spot longer than 3 days past due.  If hardship does occur, please contact us right away and we can work with you on moving your puppy reservation (and current balance) to a future litter.

Bringing Home Puppy:

Your puppy will be ready to go home at 8 weeks old.  At this point, he or she will have had all age-appropriate shots, vet check, and de-wormings.  Once your payment is made in full, we will schedule a date and time for you to pick up your puppy.  It is important to arrive on time for your appointment as we will likely have many pickups scheduled for the same day.  We want to give you our full attention and time to ask any questions that you may have.   If you know that you will not be able to pick up your puppy by the required date, you will need to let us know ASAP so we can confirm we are available for the additional time needed.  If pups are not picked up at 8 weeks an aditional $20/boarding fee will apply for everyday after 8 weeks.

We prefer that families pick up their pups in person so that we can show you the training protocols that we have been working on as well as get to meet each other in person.  We understand this is not always possible though.  We have a list of preferred ground and air transporters that we trust that we can refer you to if needed.  It is the responsibility of all puppy buyers to make all arrangements with the transporters directly.  We are willing to speak with and assist with them as needed.

Moving Your Reservation:

If for any reason, you would like to move your reservation to a later litter, you may do so for up to 3 litters.  Your spot on the reservation list may change if you choose to move.

Shining Star Doodles does not discriminate based on race, religion or gender, but reserves the right to reject or approve applications for any reason, in our sole discretion.
